Bow and Arrow Canyon
Four roped sections, a beautiful hike, and close to town!
rappels of all sizes
Bow and Arrow is a wonderful canyoneering adventure that starts with a small rappel to get you warmed up for the next one, a 110' drop, mostly free hanging! Two more rappels get you safely back to the ground. This trip has a beautiful half an hour hike in, passing incredible petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks, and winding through a canyon hidden between large rock fins.
What to expect: After a 15 minute drive from Moab, we will park and hike to the canyon. The hike usually takes around half an hour, with a slight incline. This canyon is dry year round, with limited shade. The first rappel is a short, 12' drop that is a great introduction. The next Rap is the whopper: a 110' free hanging rappel (meaning your feet don't touch the rock for most of the way down). The third rappel is short, but on a beautiful slab carved from water, and the final rappel, the most technical, lands us back on ground level where we started. This is a great trip because we don't repeat any part of it, it's a beautiful loop through canyon country.
This canyoneering trip is still beginner friendly but is a bit longer than the half day trips. Since there is very little shade, we recommend avoiding this trip in peak Summer.
Duration: This is a typically a 5-7 hour trip town to town, depending on group size.
What to Bring: Close-toed Hiking shoes, 3-4 liters of water per person, lunch and snacks, a hat, sunglasses, sun protection (sunshirt, sunscreen, chapstick, etc). Recommended: dry bag for items that cannot get wet (we can loan you one if you need).
We will provide all technical equipment such as ropes, harnesses, helmets, rappelling devices etc. If you have your own equipment and would like to use it, we'll just need to have a look at it to make sure it's up to our standard.
